CK If like me you have been involved in Dry January, you may well be looking forward to this weekend.* Well done you did it – enjoy a drink if the fancy takes you. Listen up, though, I’m not advocating everyone who’s been alcohol free in January go out on a huge bender as that’s just not sensible but I would recommend that you try Tonbridge’s first Beer Weekend!
Sam, owner of The Beer Seller, had the idea last year. He had seen the success of the Tunbridge Wells Beer Weekend and given the numerous bars and pubs that we have along Tonbridge High Street, knew that it would be a success here too.
Here’s how it works:
Eight venues across town are pairing up with one of their favourite breweries. (see below for detail)
Each venue will offer a selection of beers from their chosen brewery and many will be putting on entertainment to match.

The Gatehouse is showcasing Cellar Head with a meet the brewer and beer pong evening on Friday!

Verdigris will be in partnership with Westerham Brewery. They are offering a glass of Nova Anglia from Westerham Brewery and three oysters for £8 over the weekend as well as live music.

The Humphrey Bean – Longman Brewery

The Beer Seller has Gun Brewery. Their entertainment is live music From Gez Gold at 8pm on Friday, The Bourne Valley Boys from 8pm on Saturday as well as showing all the 6 Nation games in their meeting room that weekend (first come, first served).

The Nelson Arms has Kent Brewery and Fyne Ales. They will have live acoustic music on Friday night and the Great Barden Beer Quiz on Sunday 2 Feb at 7pm.

The Foresters is showing the love for Shepherd Neame.
“It’s a chance for local breweries, the bars and pubs, and people of Tonbridge to come together and create a party atmosphere in the town,” says Jamie from The Beer Seller.
You will find ale trail maps at all participating venues – will you visit all eight over the weekend?

Before my cheeky friends chip in and remind me about the two nights I had off dry Jan, I’ll admit it here. I’m also having Friday 31st Jan off as it’s date night for Mr Eat and me and we’re going somewhere really cool!
