Tick, tock …

The deadline for nominations for the Kent Life Food & Drink Awards is fast approaching – it’s Monday 7th August.

A few minutes of your time nominating could help to bring recognition to Tonbridge and surrounding areas’ food and drink establishments.  This has many benefits including:

  • Putting Tonbridge on the map, making it a destination for people from across the county.  With the castle, river trips, Haysden and the sports ground plus events like Tonbridge Calling and the Tonbridge Food & Drink Festival, we have much to offer visitors.  And if they know they can visit an award-winning spot for a bite to eat, the lure is even stronger!
  • Awards help businesses thrive and prosper – more people visit, the business is recognised by its peers and it gives the staff a boost too.
  • All of this helps the town to thrive and that’s what we need – a bustling High Street providing us with choice and independent places to eat, drink and shop.

Here’s further incentive from Sarah Sturt, editor of Kent Life magazine and founder of the Food & Drink Awards,

Have you nominated your local food and drink favourites yet for The Kent Life and Kent on Sunday Food & Drink Awards? You have until 7 August to make your nominations to the competition that is now in its fifth year and going from strength to strength. There are 12 different categories, including a new one this year – Best Family Dining – and they range from Pub of the Year to Best Independent Food & Drink Retailer and Outstanding Customer Service. Past local winners have included Finch House (2016 Café of the Year) and Sulston’s Kitchen (Newcomer of the Year 2016), while both Tonbridge and Shipbourne Farmers’ Markets have also both picked up the Farmers’ Market of the Year award. The black tie awards dinner is on 16 October at the Ashford International Hotel and is always a fantastic night of celebrations. With Tonbridge attracting so many new, quality places to eat, drink and grab a great cup of coffee, make sure you shout about the places you love and let the judges know all about it: you can nominate online at kentfda.co.uk or email fda@archant.co.uk

So please do nominate – as I keep saying, your High Street needs you!
