Valentine’s Day Meal-In Options

Valentine’s Day is on Sunday and I have received quite a few DMs about where is offering takeaway or delivered, extra special meals-in. Your usuals such as Indian, Chinese etc, pub food takeaways and chain restaurants doing takeawys are obviously still options but this list of ten is comprised of pub, restaurants and chefs from Tonbridge and around that are doing something that little bit special for February 14th. Many places in the Tonbridge vicinity have closed during this lockdown so there are more places that are further afield in this blog then you might expect. Why not try something new?!

These are not listed in any particular order other than proximity to Tonbridge Castle ….

  1. I have to begin with Homemade Meals Valentine’s Day sharing box! This box, crammed full of goodies, would be great with a bottle of red wine whilst you enjoy the crudites, cheese and crackers and dips, and look lovingly into each other’s eyes! Lisa has put together some delicious chocolate treats too and Tonbridge’s own The Beer Seller will deliver a half-bottle of prosecco or a full bottle of Chapel Down sparkling, if you so desire. Message Lisa to book.

  2. VerdigrisValentines Day Romance Hamper for two sounds delightful! Open the hamper to reveal a decadent eight course meal including lobster, beef wellington, a mirror glazed chocolate dessert, cheese and petits four! As their website says, ‘Less time in the kitchen …more for you.’

  3. Italy is the home of arguably that most famous lovers of all time and cod in an Italian sauce as well as anti pasti are on the menu at Ela Bella – I know lots of you love it there.

  4. If you haven’t tried a Ben Sulston At Home meal then now is the perfect time! Ben’s elegant three course menu includes mushroom and chicken terrine for starters, and white choc and vanilla cheesecake for dessert with forced rhubarb and pecans! So many of my favourite things right there….

  5. Chateaubriand is on offer at The Greyhound Charcott, and unlike some of the other menus, there is no cooking at home! This is a hot takeaway which you can eat straightaway followed by a trio of desserts which sound utterly delicious. Great option if you don’t want to cook.

  6. Just a Sprig is based in Sevenoaks but will deliver her mouth-watering menu to your door. Maggie is featuring crab, Chart Farm fillet of beef and her well-known brownies in her Valentines’ Day meal.

  7. The Lyle is a relative newcomer based in Tunbridge Wells on Forest Road but before lockdown when people could dine out, it was receiving really good reviews. I can’t wait to try it as soon as possible … maybe even this weekend. Their Valentine’s Day menu looks delightful with seven courses and an aperitif to kick start your evening.

  8. “Is it love, you’re after, or just a love box?” went a song never but if you are after a love box then Tunbridge Wells based restaurant Vittle and Swig can deliver! Your love box contains a three course menu with vegan options, accompanied by prosecco and ingredients to make Rossinis guaranteeing you a good time …strawberry and lemon meringue pie for dessert with roasted white chocolate – yum … I wouldn’t be able to share I’m sure!

  9. The Poet at Matfield – this is such a lovely restaurant and in a beautiful village – their Valentine’s Day menu lives up to expectation. Petrus and Andy have put together a delectable menu including Surf n Turf and passion fruit mousse no less, for dessert! There’s a bottle of Hush Heath sparkling rose included in the package as well.

  10. The Small Holding has recently won even more awards including the Michelin green star for gastronomy and sustainability and their Valentine’s menu looks divine. Oysters, venison, lobster, it’s all there as a duck course, a miso and chocolate pudding and melt-in-the-mouth truffle Camembert. Delivered on Saturday 13th for free to certain postcodes.

Lots of places have already sold out so place your order ASAP! Then sit back and relax and enjoy a lovely meal followed by …. probably something on Netflix.

And if you’re alone on Valentine’s Day or it’s just not your thing – you’re not the only one.
