Tonbridge foodie news!

Exciting news for Tonbridge!  The Nelson Arms on the corner of Nelson Avenue & Cromer Street in the Barden Road area of Tonbridge has been bought by Matthew Rudd and Emma Cole of The Windmill in Weald.  The Windmill is award winning and has a great reputation for its beer and food so it’s fantastic news that their expertise is coming to Tonbridge.

The Nelson Arms was touted to be turned into flats but the local residents campaigned for it to be classified as an ‘asset of community value’.  As an ACV it would have been harder to turn it into anything other than a pub.

The new owners hope to continue their success at The Windmill, bringing Tonbridge quality beers & high quality homemade food.  They may run ticketed themed foodie nights, like fish nights too.

I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating the local residents on their success & wishing Matthew & Emma lots of luck – I’ll report back!

Talking of fish, Sankey’s hopes to open by the end of the month.  They are hiring so if you’ve always fancied yourself as a fish monger, give them a call.  You don’t need any previous experience.

Last bit of…less news, more rumour… there is talk of a wine bar or cocktail bar opening in Tonbridge!

Have a great weekend!
