Ferah, Tonbridge, 13 March 2020

It’s bonkers to think that five weeks ago, life was completely different. The coronavirus was approaching but we weren’t in lockdown and we could still go out for lunch! I was kindly invited to eat at Ferah, the Turkish restaurant on the site that was Shamo’s and then Portuguese restaurant, Garfo Douro and then another Turkish restaurant, Cappadocia! It’s on Avebury Avenue near Tonbridge library and importantly, it’s still doing delivery and takeaway during lockdown.[...]

Verdigris, High Street, Tonbridge, 9 Feb 2019

I was delighted when Mr Eat and I stepped out of our front door on 9th Feb, a date night, to walk to the High Street, safe in the knowledge that we had several places to choose from for a pre-dinner drink. Garfo Douro, Tonbridge, 7 September 2018

My friend and I were very kindly invited by chef Jose and the Garfo Douro marketing manager Zoe to come and see and, of course, taste what all the fuss is about. If you haven’t heard, it’s very popular.

The Rose Revived, Hadlow, 16 March 2018

This Friday is Good Friday and on this day, typically, we eat fish and so it seemed appropriate to tell you about my recent fishy experience.  I was kindly invited to The Rose Revived in Hadlow for their new weekly night of Fishy Friday.  Snow had interfered with plans but finally my friend (who LOVES fish) and I (I love fish too!) made it to this country pub which has quite literally been revived, relaunching February 2017.

The Dovecote, Capel, 2 September 2017

The Dovecote is hidden away on the road between Tudeley and Capel, almost blending into a row of cottages.  Mr EAT and I had a date night and as I was willing to drive, we decided to try somewhere further afield, new to us and somewhere that I hadn't heard any of you discuss.  This very welcoming and homely pub was a pleasant surprise.

Pizza!! 124 The Bakehouse – Pizza night, Tonbridge, 9th February 2017

124 High Street is a beautiful old building and since it has become our very own artisan bakery, it's been given a new lease of life.  The owner, Clare, is capitalising on her skills and building by offering bread making lessons, and also, pizza nights. Quite appropriately, the Bakehouse looked rather different to its daytime appearance when I visited with a friend at the beginning of February for one of the pizza nights - all dimly lit & hushed.  We climbed the well trodden old stairs to our table where there were quite a few tables of two[...]
